2024 World Champs Recap
By: Ellie Winchell, Ambassador 2024
Just a few days after racing XCO National Championships I received a very exciting email from Cycling Canada. I had been selected to go to World Championships in Pal Arinsal, Andorra!! I was overjoyed; my big goal for the XC race season was to qualify for World Championships, I knew it was a big ask of myself based on how I compared to the other girls and that just made it so much sweeter when it happened.
Hannah Childress’ Deep Summer Photo Contest: As An Athlete
By: Rebecca Beaton, Ambassador 2024
Representation Matters: By being part of this contest, I was able to contribute to a broader narrative that women belong in every aspect of mountain biking. I hope that young girls who see the images of my friends and I will be inspired to pick up a bike—or a camera—and know that they too can be a part of this world. It’s about showing that gender doesn’t define our capabilities; our passion, skill and dedication do.
Race Recap: Women’s Bombshell Enduro
By: Annabelle Whitehead, Ambassador 2024
My plan for this race was to have clean, fun runs while enjoying the experience of doing a women’s enduro with my friends without getting too caught up with the results. Coming into it, my strategy was to take it easy on the climbs to save my energy for the descents.
Race Recap: Gastown Grand Prix
By: Kimberly Chen, Ambassador 2024/2023
As a younger and smaller rider, the plan was to just follow moves and not expend any extra energy than necessary. I also didn’t know how my legs would feel by the one hour mark racing at the Pro Women’s pace. This meant letting others work to close gaps, and hiding myself from the wind by sitting in the draft of others.
Race Recap: 12 Hours of Cumberland
By: Jade Blouin-Comeau, Ambassador 2024/2023
With no concrete strategy in mind, my primary goal was to ride 100 km within 12 hours, making this my longest MTB ride to date. A bit daunting but I was ready to try! I packed my riding gear with food and tools, aiming to have fun and remind myself why I love riding.
