Let’s grow the riding community, together.

Ride Like a Girl began as a way to create connection and community among young female mountain bike athletes. Started by former professional mountain bike racers as a means of nurturing a community of young up and coming riders, RLG is designed to inspire, connect, and contribute to the growth of the cycling community. By providing mentorship and guidance from exceptional female riders and industry representatives, RLG Athletes have the opportunity to grow as riders and individuals, taking their riding and personal development journey to the next level. RLG operates in British Columbia, Canada.

Athletes

RLG Athletes are between the ages of 13 and 17 years old, live in beautiful British Columbia and are currently racing cross-country, downhill or enduro mountain biking or are honing their skills as a freeride athlete. Our mentorship program provides opportunities for young athletes to ride with and receive guidance from accomplished female athletes in their discipline. Each year we match approximately 20 athletes with female mentors in the mountain bike community.

Mentors

Ride Like a Girl's mentors are outstanding riders and first-class individuals who are inspiring, fun, and have great insight into the mountain bike industry and what it takes to be an accomplished athlete.

Our mentors volunteer their time during the season to connect with a young rider in their discipline, get out to ride together and share some of their knowledge about the industry and tips and tricks to excelling in competition, gaining sponsorship, and being a great ambassador for the riding community.

Ambassadors

Once an RLG rider graduates from the athlete program, they have the opportunity to transition into an ambassador. As an ambassador, riders will have opportunities to give back to the Ride Like a Girl community by encouraging other young cyclists, participating in mentor chats, skills clinics and events, developing their leadership skills and connecting with high-level professional athletes. They will also continue to receive support from our board members and community.

“We take pride in creating a safe space and community to gain confidence, to learn what is possible and to gain knowledge by inspiring and supporting one another. Ride Like a Girl is a program for youth to discover their potential and strengthen themselves in preparation for the rest of their lives.”

— CJ Hendren, RLG Board Member
